यह देखकर कृपाचार्य, कर्ण तथा महारथी द्रोणाचार्य ने महाबली धनंजय को घेर लिया और अपने विशाल धनुषों से उस पर बाणों की वर्षा करने लगे। ये तीनों महारथी धनंजय को मारने की इच्छा से वर्षा ऋतु के मेघों के समान बाणों की वर्षा कर रहे थे।
