तान्यनीकान्यदृश्यन्त कुरूणामुग्रधन्विनाम्।
संसर्पन्ते यथा मेघा घर्मान्ते मन्दमारुता:॥ १॥ |

| वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं, 'हे जनमेजय! तत्पश्चात् वे कौरव सैनिक भयंकर धनुष धारण करके धीरे-धीरे आगे बढ़ने लगे। उस समय वे ऐसे प्रतीत हो रहे थे, मानो ग्रीष्म ऋतु के अंत और वर्षा ऋतु के आरंभ में मंद वायु द्वारा उड़ाये हुए बादल धीरे-धीरे आ रहे हों। |
