भरतश्रेष्ठ जनमेजय! आक्रमणकारियों में श्रेष्ठ और कभी पराजित न होने वाले कुन्तीपुत्र अर्जुन ने उपर्युक्त बातें कहकर विराटकुमार उत्तर को दो घड़ी तक भली-भाँति सान्त्वना दी। तत्पश्चात् युद्ध की इच्छा से रहित, भय से व्याकुल और भागने के लिए आतुर होकर वे उत्तरा को रथ पर चढ़ाकर चले गए। 50-51॥
Bharatshreshtha Janamejaya! Arjuna, the son of Kunti, the best among the attackers and never defeated, consoled Viratkumar Uttara thoroughly for two hours by saying the above mentioned things. After that, devoid of any desire for war, distraught with fear and desperate to run away, he mounted Uttara on the chariot. 50-51॥
