त्रिगर्तान् मे पिता यात: शून्ये सम्प्रणिधाय माम्।
सर्वां सेनामुपादाय न मे सन्तीह सैनिका:॥ १७॥
सोऽहमेको बहून् बाल: कृतास्त्रानकृतश्रम:।
प्रतियोद्धुं न शक्ष्यामि निवर्तस्व बृहन्नले॥ १८॥
अनुवाद
बृहन्नले! मेरे पिता मुझे निर्जन नगर की रक्षा के लिए अकेला छोड़कर स्वयं सम्पूर्ण सेना सहित त्रिगर्तों से युद्ध करने चले गए हैं। यहाँ मेरे पास कोई सैनिक नहीं है। मैं बालक हूँ और मैंने अभी तक शस्त्र विद्या का कठिन अभ्यास नहीं किया है। ऐसी स्थिति में मैं इन प्रौढ़ और शस्त्र विद्या जानने वाले विशाल कौरवों का सामना नहीं कर सकूँगा। अतः आप रथ सहित लौट जाएँ।॥17-18॥
Brihannale! My father has left me alone to protect the deserted city and has himself gone with the entire army to fight with the Trigartas. I do not have any soldiers here. I am a child and I have not yet worked hard on the art of weapons. In such a condition, I will not be able to face these large number of Kauravas who are mature and know the art of weapons. Therefore, you should return with the chariot.'॥17-18॥
