वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं - हे राजन! राजकुमार उत्तर के इस प्रकार कहे हुए वचन सुनकर सब विषयों में निपुण अर्जुन अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हुए। उस समय तक उनका वनवास काल समाप्त हो चुका था। अतः उन्होंने अपनी धर्मपरायण एवं प्रिय पत्नी, अग्नि से उत्पन्न हुई, दुबली-पतली, सत्य और सरलता आदि गुणों से सुशोभित, पति की प्रिय तथा सदैव उनकी सहायता करने को तत्पर रहने वाली पांचाल राजकुमारी द्रौपदी को एकान्त में बुलाकर कहा - 'कल्याणि! मेरी बात सुनकर शीघ्र ही राजकुमार उत्तर से इस प्रकार कहना -॥ 10-12॥
Vaishampayana says - O King! Hearing the words of prince Uttar speaking in this manner, Arjuna, who was skilled in all matters, became very happy. By that time the period of his exile had ended. Therefore, he called his virtuous and beloved wife, Panchal princess Draupadi, who was born from fire and who was slim, adorned with virtues like truthfulness and simplicity, and who was dear to her husband and always ready to help him, in private and said - 'Kalyani! Listen to me and quickly tell prince Uttar in this manner -॥ 10-12॥
