वैशम्पायन कहते हैं, "भरत! उस समय [सूर्य अस्त हो चुका था और रात्रि भी हो चुकी थी, अतः] सब लोग धूल से ही नहीं, अपितु अंधकार से भी आच्छादित थे; अतएव आक्रमणकारी सैनिक सेना की व्यूह रचना करके कुछ समय के लिए युद्ध रोककर वहीं खड़े हो गए॥1॥
Vaishmpayana says, "Bharata! At that time [the sun had set and night had set, so] everyone was not only covered with dust, but also with darkness; therefore, the attacking soldiers formed an army formation and stopped fighting for some time and stood there. ॥1॥
