गुणास्ते मत्स्यराष्ट्रस्य बहुशोऽपि मया श्रुता:।
विराटनगरे मन्ये पाण्डवाश्छन्नचारिण:॥
निवसन्ति पुरे रम्ये तत्र यात्रा विधीयताम्।
अनुवाद
भीष्म पितामह ने युधिष्ठिर के वहाँ रहने के कारण देश और प्रजा के अनेक गुणों का वर्णन किया है। मैंने मत्स्यराष्ट्र में (दूतों के माध्यम से) इनमें से अनेक गुणों के बारे में सुना है। अतः मेरा मानना है कि पांडव राजा विराट के सुंदर नगर में निवास करते हैं और वेश बदलकर गुप्त रूप से विचरण करते हैं, इसलिए हमें भी वहाँ जाना चाहिए।
Bhishma the grandfather has described many of the qualities of the country and the people as a result of the stay of Yudhishthira there. I have heard about many of these qualities in Matsyarashtra (through messengers). Hence, I believe that the Pandavas reside in the beautiful city of King Virat and move around secretly wearing disguises, hence we should travel there.
