तत: सुदेवमानाय्य राजमाता विशाम्पते।
पप्रच्छ भार्या कस्येयं सुता वा कस्य भाविनी॥ ३६॥
कथं च नष्टा ज्ञातिभ्यो भर्तुर्वा वामलोचना।
त्वया च विदिता विप्र कथमेवंगता सती॥ ३७॥ |

| युधिष्ठिर! तब राजमाता ने सुदेव को बुलाकर पूछा- 'हे ब्राह्मण! ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि तुम उसे जानते हो। बताओ, यह सुन्दरी कन्या किसकी पत्नी या पुत्री है? सुन्दर नेत्रों वाली यह सुन्दरी अपने भाइयों या पति से किस प्रकार विमुख हो गई है? यह पतिव्रता स्त्री ऐसी बुरी दशा को क्यों प्राप्त हुई है?॥ 36-37॥ |
