सा गत्वाथापरां भूमिं बाष्पसंदिग्धया गिरा।

| इसके बाद वह दूसरे स्थान पर गई और अश्रुपूर्ण स्वर में विलाप करने लगी। उसने अश्रुपूर्ण नेत्रों से देखा कि वहाँ से कुछ ही दूरी पर एक अशोक वृक्ष था। दमयंती उसके पास गई। वह वृक्ष अशोक के पुष्पों से लदा हुआ था। उस वन में पत्तों से लदा हुआ और पक्षियों के कलरव से गुंजायमान वह वृक्ष अत्यंत सुंदर लग रहा था। 101-102 |
