अब दमयंती ने देखा कि सभी देवता पसीने से तर थे—उनके किसी अंग पर पसीने की एक बूँद भी नहीं थी, उनकी पलकें नहीं झुकी थीं। उनके गले में फूलों की मालाएँ ताज़ा उगी हुई थीं—वे मुरझाई नहीं थीं। उन पर धूल के कण भी नहीं गिरे थे। वे सिंहासन पर बैठे थे, पर उनके पैर ज़मीन पर नहीं पड़ रहे थे और उनकी परछाई भी नहीं पड़ रही थी।
Now Damayanti saw that all the gods were sweat-free—no drop of sweat was visible on any of their limbs, their eyelids did not fall. The garlands of flowers they wore were full of fresh growth—they did not wilt. No dust particles fell on them. They were sitting on thrones, but their feet did not touch the ground and they did not cast any shadow.
