निशम्य दमयन्त्यास्तत् करुणं प्रतिदेवितम्।
निश्चयं परमं तथ्यमनुरागं च नैषधे॥ २२॥
मनोविशुद्धिं बुद्धिं च भक्तिं रागं च नैषधे।
यथोक्तं चक्रिरे देवा: सामर्थ्यं लिङ्गधारणे॥ २३॥
अनुवाद
दमयन्ती का वह करुण विलाप सुनकर और उसके अन्तिम निश्चय, नल के प्रति सच्ची प्रीति, शुद्ध हृदय, उत्तम बुद्धि और भक्ति तथा नल के प्रति प्रेम को देखकर देवताओं ने दमयन्ती के अन्दर उचित शक्ति उत्पन्न की, जिससे वह दिव्य गुणों में निश्चय हो गई॥22-23॥
Hearing that pitiful lamentation of Damayanti and seeing her final determination, real love for the pipe, pure heart, good intelligence and devotion and love for the pipe, the gods created the right power within Damayanti, so that she could be sure of the divine qualities. 22-23॥
