यदि कर्तव्य करने के बाद भी उसका फल प्राप्त न हो, तो कोई न कोई कारण अवश्य है; ऐसा मानकर प्रायश्चित (दोष निवारण) पर विचार करना चाहिए। राजेन्द्र! कर्तव्य का पूर्णतः पालन करने पर कर्ता ऋण से मुक्त (निर्दोष) हो जाता है। ॥41॥
If after performing a duty, the result is not achieved, then there is some reason; assuming this, one should look at the atonement (solution for the fault). Rajendra! After performing the duty completely, the doer becomes free from debt (innocent). ॥ 41॥
