कर्णस्य च महाबाहो सूतपुत्रस्य दुर्मते:॥ ८॥
न चापि पादभाक् कर्ण: पाण्डवानां नृपोत्तम।
धनुर्वेदे च शौर्ये च धर्मे वा धर्मवत्सल॥ ९॥
अनुवाद
महाबाहु! उस समय दुष्ट बुद्धि वाले सूतपुत्र कर्ण का पराक्रम भी आपसे छिपा न था। हे धर्मवत्सल! मेरा विश्वास है कि धनुर्वेद, पराक्रम और धर्माचरण में कर्ण पाण्डवों के समान एक चौथाई भी समर्थ नहीं है। 8-9॥
