जिस स्थान पर पूर्व दिशा की ओर बहने वाली नदी का प्रवाह पश्चिम की ओर मुड़ जाता है, उसे प्रतिस्रोत तीर्थ कहते हैं। वहाँ उत्तम घोड़ों का दान करने से अक्षय पुण्य प्राप्त होता है। यदि भोजन की तलाश में विचरण करने वाले अतिथि इन्द्र भी भोजन से तृप्त हो जाएँ, तो वे भी अक्षय पुण्य के स्रोत बन जाते हैं। नदियों के प्रवाह के समय, ग्रहण के समय ब्राह्मणों को दिया गया दही-मांड तथा उपर्युक्त वस्तुएँ भी अक्षय पुण्य प्रदान करती हैं। इसी प्रकार, नदियों के प्रवाह के समय स्नान करने वाला मनुष्य महान पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है।॥123 1/2॥
The place where the flow of a river flowing towards the east turns towards the west is called Pratisrot Tirtha. Donation of fine horses there gives everlasting merit. If Indra, who is a guest roaming in search of food, is satisfied with food, he also becomes the source of everlasting merit. During the great flow of rivers, dahi mand and the above mentioned articles given to Brahmins during eclipse also give everlasting merit. Similarly, a person who bathes during the great flow of rivers is freed from great sins.॥123 1/2॥
