जो विषयों के न मिलने पर भी उनका त्याग कर देता है, वह त्यागी नहीं है। परन्तु जो विषयों के दोष होने पर भी उन्हें त्याग देता है, वह त्यागी है - वही वैराग्य को प्राप्त होता है। क्योंकि उसका किसी से द्वेष नहीं है, इसलिए वह वैराग्यरहित है और बंधन से मुक्त है॥31॥
‘He who abandons objects when he cannot get them is not a renunciant. But he who abandons objects even after getting them because of their faults is a renunciant – he alone attains detachment. Since he has no animosity towards anyone, he is without enmity and is free from bondage.॥ 31॥
