अथान्योऽप्यश्वार्थी ब्राह्मण आगच्छत्। तथैव चैनमुक्त्वा वामपार्ष्णिमभ्यदादथ प्रायात् पुनरपि चान्योऽप्यश्वार्थी ब्राह्मण आगच्छत् त्वरितोऽथ तस्मै अपनह्य वामं धुर्यमददत्॥ ८॥
अनुवाद
इसी बीच एक और ब्राह्मण आया। उसे भी घोड़ा चाहिए था। जब उसने विनती की, तो राजा ने पहले वाली बात ही कही - 'मैं लौटते समय तुम्हें दे दूँगा।' लेकिन उसके आग्रह पर राजा ने रथ के बाएँ भाग से एक घोड़ा दे दिया। फिर वे आगे बढ़ गए। इसके बाद एक और ब्राह्मण घोड़ा माँगने आया। उसने भी जल्दी से घोड़ा माँगा। तब राजा ने बाएँ धुरे से भारवाहक घोड़ा खोलकर उसे दे दिया।
‘Meanwhile another Brahmin came. He too wanted a horse. When he begged, the king said the same thing to him as before – ‘I will give it to you when I return.’ But on his insistence he gave a horse from the left side of the chariot. Then he moved ahead. Thereafter another Brahmin came asking for a horse. He too asked for it quickly. Then the king untied the load-bearing horse from the left axle and gave it to him.
