भरतश्रेष्ठ! जब सहस्रयुग के अन्त में थोड़ा ही समय शेष रह जाता है, कलियुग के अन्तिम भाग में प्रायः सभी मनुष्य मिथ्या हो जाते हैं। पार्थ! उस समय यज्ञ, दान और व्रत-उपवास ये प्रतिनिधि कर्म होने लगते हैं, अर्थात् यज्ञ, दान और तप मुख्य विधि न रहकर नाममात्र के होने लगते हैं। 29-30 1/2॥
