मार्कण्डेयजी बोले- राजन! मैं उन सनातन, अविनाशी, अव्यक्त, सूक्ष्म, निर्गुण और सद्गुणी पुराणपुरुष को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो स्वयं प्रकट हुए हैं और अब वह कथा आपसे कहता हूँ। पुरुषसिंह! ये जो हमारे निकट विराजमान हैं, पीत वस्त्रधारी भगवान जनार्दन, वही जगत् की उत्पत्ति और संहार करने वाले हैं। यही ईश्वर समस्त प्राणियों के अन्तर्यामी और उनके रचयिता हैं। ये पवित्र, अचिन्त्य और महान चमत्कारी तत्त्व कहे गए हैं। 17-19॥
Markandeyaji said- Rajan! I bow to the eternal, imperishable, unmanifested, subtle, qualityless and virtuous Puranapurusha who has manifested himself and now narrate that story to you. Purusha Singh! This one sitting near us, Lord Janardan wearing a yellow robe, is the one who creates and destroys the world. This same God is the inner soul of all living beings and their creator. These are said to be sacred, unimaginable and great miraculous elements. 17-19॥
