श्रीकृष्ण बोले— मार्कण्डेय जी! पाण्डवों सहित बहुत से ब्राह्मण आपके उपदेश सुनने की इच्छा से यहाँ आये हैं। द्रौपदी, सत्यभामा और मैं, सभी आपकी उत्तम वाणी का आनन्द लेना चाहते हैं। कृपया हमें प्राचीन काल के राजाओं, स्त्रियों और ऋषियों की प्राचीन पवित्र कथाएँ सुनाएँ तथा सनातन सदाचार का वर्णन करें। ॥45-46॥
Shri Krishna said— Markandeya ji! Many Brahmins along with the Pandavas have come here with the desire to listen to your teachings. Draupadi, Satyabhama and I, all want to enjoy your excellent speech. Please narrate the ancient pious stories of the kings, women and sages of ancient times and describe to us the eternal good conduct. ॥ 45-46॥
