आपने सर्वप्रथम ब्रह्मचर्य आदि व्रतों का पालन करते हुए सम्पूर्ण वेदों का अध्ययन किया है। तत्पश्चात् सम्पूर्ण धनुर्वेद का ज्ञान प्राप्त किया है। तत्पश्चात् क्षत्रिय धर्मानुसार धन अर्जित किया है और समस्त प्राचीन यज्ञों का अनुष्ठान किया है। हे पुरुषों के स्वामी! आपको स्त्री-विषयक भोगों में कोई रुचि नहीं है, जिनमें अशिक्षित लोग रुचि रखते हैं। आप कामना से प्रेरित होकर कोई कार्य नहीं करते और धन के लोभ से धर्म का परित्याग नहीं करते। इसी प्रभाव से आप धर्मराज कहलाते हैं।॥17-18॥
‘You have first of all studied all the Vedas while observing celibacy and other vows. Thereafter you have learnt the complete Dhanurveda. After this, you have earned wealth according to the Kshatriya Dharma and have performed all the ancient Yajnas. O Lord of men! You have no interest in the pleasures related to women which uneducated people are fond of. You do not do anything motivated by desire and do not abandon Dharma due to greed for money. Due to this effect, you are known as Dharmaraj.॥17-18॥
