अर्जुन बोले - हे राजन! तत्पश्चात् मार्ग में इधर-उधर महर्षियों के मुख से अपनी स्तुति सुनते हुए मैं जल के स्वामी समुद्र के पास पहुँचा और उसका निरीक्षण किया। वह देखने में बड़ा ही भयानक था। उसका जल न घटता था, न बढ़ता था। झाग से मिश्रित पर्वतों के समान ऊँची-ऊँची लहरें उठती हुई उसमें नृत्य करती हुई प्रतीत होती थीं। कभी वे इधर-उधर फैल जाती थीं और कभी आपस में टकराती थीं।॥1-2॥
Arjun said - O King! Thereafter, while listening to my praises from the mouths of great sages here and there on the way, I reached the ocean, the lord of waters, and inspected it. It was very scary to look at. Its water never decreases or increases. High waves like mountains mixed with foam were rising and appearing to dance in it. Sometimes they spread here and there and sometimes they collided with each other.॥1-2॥
