कुरुनन्दन! वे शाल्वराज का वह प्रहार सहन न कर सके। चारुदेष्ण, साम्ब और महारथी प्रद्युम्न कवच, विचित्र आभूषण और ध्वजाएँ धारण करके रथों पर बैठकर राजा शाल्व के अनेक श्रेष्ठ योद्धाओं के साथ युद्ध करने लगे।
