मंद प्रवाह वाली नदियों का उत्प्लावनशील जल इस प्रकार नीचे की ओर बह रहा था मानो उस पर्वत का वस्त्र उतर रहा हो। स्वस्थ मृग, भय से अचेत, मुँह में हरी घास का निवाला लिए पास ही खड़े थे और कौतूहल भरी निगाहों से भीमसेन की ओर देख रहे थे। उस समय, मनोहर नेत्रों वाले, वायुपुत्र भीमसेन, अनेक लताओं को झकझोरते हुए, प्रसन्न मन से क्रीड़ा करते हुए बड़े वेग से चले जा रहे थे। वे अपनी प्रियतमा द्रौपदी की प्रिय इच्छा पूरी करने के लिए पूर्णतया कृतसंकल्प थे।
