हे प्रिये! इस प्रकार जब प्राणियों की संख्या बहुत बढ़ गई और स्थिति अत्यन्त भयंकर हो गई, तब पृथ्वी उस अत्यन्त भारी भार से दबकर सैकड़ों योजन नीचे धँस गई ॥39॥
O dear! In this manner, when the number of living beings increased and the situation became very terrible, then the earth, being pressed down by the immense weight, sank down by hundreds of yojanas. ॥39॥
