प्रस्पन्दमान: सम्भ्रान्त: कपोत: श्येन लक्ष्यते।
मत्सकाशं जीवितार्थी तस्य त्यागो विगर्हित:॥ ५॥
यो हि कश्चिद् द्विजान् हन्याद् गां वा लोकस्य मातरम्।
शरणागतं च त्यजते तुल्यं तेषां हि पातकम्॥ ६॥ |

| गरुड़! देखो, यह बेचारा कबूतर भय के मारे कैसे काँप रहा है। इसने प्राण बचाने के लिए ही मेरी शरण ली है। ऐसी दशा में इसका त्याग करना महान निन्दनीय है। जो मनुष्य ब्राह्मणों की हत्या करता है, जो जगत् की माता गौ का वध करता है तथा जो शरण में आए हुए को त्याग देता है, ये तीनों एक ही पाप करते हैं। ॥5-6॥ |

| Eagle! Look how this poor pigeon is trembling in fear. It has taken refuge in me only to save its life. In such a condition, abandoning it is a matter of great condemnation. The person who kills Brahmins, the one who slaughters the mother of the world cow and the one who abandons the one who has come to seek refuge, all these three commit the same sin. ॥5-6॥ |
