विभाण्डक उवाच
रक्षांसि चैतानि चरन्ति पुत्र
रूपेण तेनाद्भुतदर्शनेन।
अतुल्यवीर्याण्यभिरूपवन्ति
विघ्नं सदा तपसश्चिन्तयन्ति॥ १॥
अनुवाद
विभाण्डक बोले - बेटा! ये राक्षस ही हैं जो इस वन में ऐसे अद्भुत और आकर्षक रूप धारण करके विचरण करते हैं। ये अत्यन्त बलवान हैं, सुन्दर रूप धारण करते हैं और ऋषियों-मुनियों की तपस्या में विघ्न डालने के उपाय सोचते रहते हैं॥1॥
Vibhandak said - Son! It is the demons who roam around in this forest, assuming such wonderful and attractive forms. They are uniquely powerful and assume beautiful forms, and always think of ways to create obstacles in the penance of sages and saints.॥ 1॥
