मुञ्जवज्जर्जरीभूता बहवस्तत्र पादपा:॥ ४९॥
चीराणीव व्युदस्तानि रेजुस्तत्र महावने।
तद् वृक्षयुद्धमभवन्मुहूर्तं भरतर्षभ।
राक्षसानां च मुख्यस्य नराणामुत्तमस्य च॥ ५०॥ |

| उस महान वन में बहुत से वृक्ष घास के समान जीर्ण-शीर्ण हो गए थे। वे फटे हुए चिथड़ों के समान इधर-उधर फैले हुए शोभायमान लग रहे थे। हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! राक्षसराज किर्मीर और पुरुषश्रेष्ठ भीमसेन के बीच वह वृक्षयुद्ध दो घड़ी तक चलता रहा। |
