दुर्योधन उवाच
यस्य नास्ति निजा प्रज्ञा केवलं तु बहुश्रुत:।
न स जानाति शास्त्रार्थं दर्वी सूपरसानिव॥ १॥
अनुवाद
दुर्योधन बोला, "पिताजी! जिसके पास अपनी बुद्धि नहीं है, जिसने केवल बहुत से शास्त्र सुने हैं, वह शास्त्रों का अर्थ नहीं समझ सकता; जैसे करछुल चम्मच का स्वाद नहीं समझ सकता।
Duryodhan said, "Father! One who does not have his own intelligence, who has only heard many scriptures, cannot understand the meaning of the scriptures; just like a ladle cannot understand the taste of the spoon.
