ये परार्धे हिमवत: सूर्योदयगिरौ नृपा:।
कारूषे च समुद्रान्ते लौहित्यमभितश्च ये॥ ८॥
फलमूलाशना ये च किराताश्चर्मवासस:।
क्रूरशस्त्रा: क्रूरकृतस्तांश्च पश्याम्यहं प्रभो॥ ९॥
अनुवाद
पिताश्री! मैंने देखा कि हिमालय के बाहरी भाग में रहने वाले राजा, उदयगिरि के निवासी, समुद्रतट के निकट करुष देश में रहने वाले तथा लोहित्य पर्वत के दोनों ओर रहने वाले, जिनका भोजन केवल फल-मूल है, वे चमड़े के वस्त्र धारण करने वाले, निर्दयतापूर्वक शस्त्र चलाने वाले तथा क्रूर कर्म करने वाले किरात के राजा भी उपहार लेकर वहाँ आये थे ॥8-9॥
Father, I saw that the kings who reside in the outer part of the Himalayas, the residents of Udayagiri, the people living in the Karuṣa country near the seashore and those living on both sides of the Lohitya mountain, whose food is only fruits and roots, those kings of Kirātā who wear leather clothes and who wield weapons ruthlessly and who are cruel in deeds, had also come there with gifts. ॥ 8-9॥
