माद्री के महाबली एवं प्रतापी पुत्र ने शूर्पणखा और तलकट देशों को जीतकर दण्डकारण्य पर अधिकार कर लिया। तत्पश्चात् उसने म्लेच्छ जाति के राजाओं, निषादों, समुद्र के द्वीपों पर रहने वाले राक्षसों तथा कर्ण-प्रवरणों को भी परास्त किया।
