तानुवाच जरासंध: सत्यसंधो नराधिप:।
विगर्हमाण: कौरव्य वेषग्रहणवैकृतान्।
न स्नातकव्रता विप्रा बहिर्माल्यानुलेपना:॥ ४२॥
भवन्तीति नृलोकेऽस्मिन् विदितं मम सर्वश:।
के यूयं पुष्पवन्तश्च भुजैर्ज्याकृतलक्षणै:॥ ४३॥ |

| कुरुपुत्र! उस समय सत्यवादी राजा जरासंध ने उन तीनों को उनके वेश के विपरीत आचरण के लिए फटकारते हुए कहा, "ब्राह्मणों! इस मनुष्य लोक में यह बात सर्वविदित है कि दीक्षा-व्रत का पालन करने वाले ब्राह्मण समावर्तन आदि विशेष अवसर के बिना माला और चंदन धारण नहीं करते। मैं भी इसे भली-भाँति जानता हूँ। तुम कौन हो? तुम्हारे गले में फूलों की मालाएँ हैं और तुम्हारी भुजाओं पर धनुष की डोरी के रगड़ने के चिह्न स्पष्ट दिखाई दे रहे हैं।" 42-43 |
