व्यास कहते हैं, संवर्त के वचन सुनकर अग्निदेव भस्म हो जाने के भय से पीपल के पत्ते के समान काँपते हुए तुरन्त देवताओं के पास लौट गए। उन्हें आते देख महामनस्वी इन्द्र ने बृहस्पतिजी के सामने ही उनसे पूछा, 'अग्निदेव! आप मेरा संदेश लेकर राजा मरुत के पास बृहस्पतिजी को पहुँचाने गए थे। कहिए, यज्ञ की तैयारी कर रहे राजा मरुत क्या कहते हैं? वे मेरी बात सुनते हैं या नहीं?'॥20-21॥
Vyasa says, on hearing Samvarta's words, Agnidev, fearing to be burnt to ashes, immediately returned to the gods, trembling like a peepal leaf. Seeing him coming, the great-minded Indra asked Brihaspatiji in front of him, 'Agnidev! You had gone with my message to deliver Brihaspatiji to King Marut. Tell me, what does King Marut, who is preparing for the yagya, say? Does he listen to me or not?'॥20-21॥
