गाण्डीव धनुष से छूटे हुए बाणों के प्रहार से व्याकुल होकर वीर राजा वज्रदत्त ने घोड़ा छोड़कर स्वयं पुनः नगर में प्रवेश किया और कवच आदि से सुसज्जित होकर एक महान हाथी पर आरूढ़ होकर युद्ध के लिए निकला। आते ही उसने पार्थ पर आक्रमण कर दिया।
