न च प्रतिनिधिं कर्तुं चिकीर्षामि तपोधन।
अत्र मे भगवन् सम्यक् साचिव्यं कर्तुमर्हसि॥ १८॥
अनुवाद
तपधान! मुख्य वस्तु के अभाव में जो अन्य वस्तु दी जाती है, वह प्रतिनिधि दक्षिणा कहलाती है; परंतु मैं प्रतिनिधि दक्षिणा देना नहीं चाहता; अतः हे प्रभु! इस विषय में मुझे उचित उपदेश दीजिए॥18॥
Tapadhaan! Any other thing which is given in the absence of the main thing is called representative dakshina; but I do not wish to give representative dakshina; therefore, O Lord! Kindly give me proper advice in this matter.॥ 18॥
