भीष्म उवाच
यो न दद्यात् प्रतिश्रुत्य स्वल्पं वा यदि वा बहु।
आशास्तस्य हता: सर्वा: क्लीबस्येव प्रजाफलम्॥ ३॥
अनुवाद
भीष्म बोले, "युधिष्ठिर! जो कोई कुछ देने की प्रतिज्ञा करता है, चाहे वह थोड़ा हो या अधिक, परन्तु देता नहीं, उसकी सारी आशाएँ उसी प्रकार नष्ट हो जाती हैं, जैसे कि नपुंसक की संतान प्राप्ति के फल की आशा नष्ट हो जाती है।"
Bhishma said, "Yudhishthira! Whoever promises to give something, whether little or more, but does not give it, all his hopes are destroyed just like the hope of a eunuch for the fruit of having a child."
