गौदान करने से मनुष्य अपने पूर्व के सात पूर्वजों तथा आगामी सात पीढ़ियों की संतानों को मुक्ति प्रदान करता है; तथापि यदि गौदान के साथ दक्षिणा भी दी जाए तो उस दान का फल दोगुना हो जाता है।
By donating a cow, a man liberates his forefathers of the previous seven generations and his children of the next seven generations; however, if gold is also given as dakshina (gift) along with it, then the fruit of that donation is said to be double.
