प्रसिद्धं भाषितं दाने नैषां प्रत्यायकं पुन:।
ये मन्यन्ते क्रयं शुल्कं न ते धर्मविदो नरा:॥ ४५॥
अनुवाद
कन्यादान के विषय में भी लोगों के कथन प्रसिद्ध हैं' अर्थात् सभी कहते हैं कि कन्यादान हो चुका है। अतः जो लोग केवल शुल्क से ही विवाह की पुष्टि मानते हैं, उनके कथन का कोई प्रमाण नहीं है। जो लोग क्रय और शुल्क में विश्वास रखते हैं, वे धर्म के ज्ञाता नहीं हैं॥ 45॥
‘People's statements about Kanyadan are also famous' means everyone says that Kanyadan has been done. Hence, there is no evidence to support the statements of those who believe that marriage is confirmed only by the fee. Those people who believe in purchase and fee are not knowledgeable about religion.॥ 45॥
