युधिष्ठिर ने पूछा - "पितामह! यदि एक पुरुष ने कन्या का विवाह निश्चित कर लिया है और उसका मूल्य भी दे दिया है, दूसरे ने भी मूल्य देने का वचन देकर विवाह निश्चित कर लिया है, तीसरा उसी कन्या को बलपूर्वक ले जाने की बात कर रहा है, चौथा उसके भाइयों और सम्बन्धियों को विशेष धन का लालच देकर उससे विवाह करने को तैयार है और पाँचवाँ उसका हाथ पकड़ चुका है, तो धर्म के अनुसार उसकी पुत्री किसकी पत्नी मानी जाएगी? हम इस विषय में यथार्थ तथ्य जानना चाहते हैं। आप ही हमारे नेत्र (मार्गदर्शक) बनें॥19-20॥
Yudhishthira asked, "Grandfather! If one man has fixed the marriage and paid the price for the girl, another has fixed the marriage by promising to pay the price, the third is talking of taking the same girl by force, the fourth is ready to marry her by luring her brothers and relatives with special money and the fifth has already taken her hand in marriage, then according to Dharma, whose wife will her daughter be considered? We want to know the real facts in this matter. You be the eye (guide) for us.॥ 19-20॥
