विद्यायुक्तो ह्यविद्यश्च धनवान् दुर्मतिस्तथा।
यदि विद्यामुपाश्रित्य नर: सुखमवाप्नुयात्॥ ८॥
न विद्वान् विद्यया हीनं वृत्त्यर्थमुपसंश्रयेत्।
अनुवाद
कभी-कभी विद्वान और मूर्ख दोनों ही समान रूप से धनी प्रतीत होते हैं। कभी-कभी कुबुद्धि वाले भी धनवान हो जाते हैं (जबकि सद्बुद्धि वाले को थोड़ा-सा भी धन नहीं मिलता)। यदि विद्याध्ययन से सुख मिलता, तो विद्वानों को जीविका के लिए किसी मूर्ख धनवान की शरण में न जाना पड़ता।
Sometimes both the learned and the foolish appear equally rich. Sometimes people with bad intellect become rich (while the people with good intellect do not get even a little money). If a person could get happiness by studying, then the learned would not have to take shelter of any foolish rich person for livelihood. 8 1/2.
