ये सभी नाम महापुरुषों द्वारा आविष्कृत हैं और वेदों परायण महर्षि तण्डि ने भक्तिपूर्वक इनका संग्रह किया है। अतः ये सभी नाम सत्य, सिद्धि और सम्पूर्ण कामनाओं के साधक हैं। प्रसिद्ध महापुरुषों और ज्ञानी ऋषियों ने इन सभी नामों का यथार्थ रूप से प्रतिपादन किया है। महर्षि तण्डिने इन नामों को ब्रह्मलोक से मृत्युलोक में अवतरित किया है; इसीलिए ये सत्यनाम संसार भर में आदरपूर्वक सुने गए हैं। यदुकुलतिलक श्रीकृष्ण! ब्रह्माजी द्वारा कहा गया यह सनातन शिवस्तोत्र अन्य स्तोत्रों से श्रेष्ठ और सर्वश्रेष्ठ वेद है। समस्त स्तोत्रों में इसका प्रथम स्थान है। यह स्वर्ग प्राप्ति में सहायक है और समस्त प्राणियों के लिए हितकारी एवं मंगलकारी है। मैं इसका वर्णन तुमसे करूँगा। सावधान होकर इसे मुझसे सुनो। तुम भगवान महादेवजी के भक्त हो; अतः शिवस्वरूप इस स्तोत्र का चयन करो।
