अप्येवात्मवधं लोके राजंस्त्वं बहु मन्यसे।
न हि प्रतिज्ञा या दत्ता तां प्रहातुमरिंदम॥ ३८॥ |

| राजा! आप इस संसार में अपनी मृत्यु को ही अधिक महत्व दे रहे हैं। हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! आपने जो प्रतिज्ञा की है, उसे तोड़ना आपके लिए उचित नहीं है (शत्रुओं को परास्त करके आपने न्यायपूर्वक प्रजा की रक्षा करने की प्रतिज्ञा ली है। अब आप शोक के कारण आत्महत्या का विचार मन में लाकर उस प्रतिज्ञा से विमुख हो रहे हैं, यह उचित नहीं है)। ॥38॥ |
