पत्नीं वा मध्यमं पिण्डं पुत्रकामां हि प्राशयेत्।
आधत्त पितरो गर्भं कुमारं पुष्करस्रजम्॥
अनुवाद
यदि श्राद्धकर्ता की पत्नी पुत्र प्राप्ति की इच्छा रखती हो, तो उसे मध्य पिण्ड अर्थात् पितामह को अर्पित पिण्ड को खाना चाहिए और प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए कि 'पितरों! मेरे गर्भ में कमल की माला से सुशोभित एक सुन्दर कुमार को स्थापित कीजिए।
If the wife of the Shraddha performer wishes to have a son, then she should eat the middle pinda i.e. the pinda offered to the grandfather and pray 'Fathers! Please establish in my womb a beautiful Kumar decorated with a garland of lotus.
