वह उन सुसज्जित बैठे ब्राह्मणों से निवेदन करे कि अब मैं पिण्डदान करता हूँ। तत्पश्चात दक्षिणाभिमुख कुश बिछाकर उसके पास अग्नि जलाकर उसमें आहुति दे (आहुति के मंत्र इस प्रकार हैं - अग्नये कव्यवाहनाय स्वाहा। सोमाय पितृमते स्वाहा)।
