प्रातःकाल उठना, स्नानादि से शुद्ध होना, देवताओं और ब्राह्मणों के प्रति भक्ति रखते हुए बड़ों की सेवा करना और ब्राह्मणों को प्रणाम करना, बड़ों के आने पर उठकर उनका स्वागत करना, मंदिर में सिर झुकाना, अतिथियों का आदर करना, बड़ों की सलाह मानकर उसका पालन करना, उनके हितकारी वचनों को सुनना, नौकरों को सांत्वना देना और इच्छित वस्तुओं का दान देकर उन्हें अपनाना तथा उनका पालन-पोषण करना, न्यायपूर्ण कर्म करना, अन्याय और अहितकर कार्यों का त्याग करना, अपनी स्त्री के साथ अच्छा व्यवहार करना, दोषों को दूर करना, पुत्रों को विनम्रता की शिक्षा देना, उन्हें विभिन्न आवश्यक कार्यों में लगाना, अशुभ वस्तुओं का त्याग करना, शुभ वस्तुओं का सेवन करना, कुल के कर्तव्यों का उचित रीति से पालन करना और अपने प्रयत्नों से कुल की रक्षा करना आदि, ये सब शुभ आचरण कहलाते हैं।
Waking up early in the morning, purifying oneself by taking a bath, serving the elders and saluting the Brahmins while having devotion towards the gods and the Brahmins, getting up and welcoming the elders when they arrive, bowing one's head in the temple, showing due respect to the guests, following the advice of the elders and following it, listening to their beneficial and useful words, consoling the servants and donating the desired things and adopting them and nurturing them, doing just deeds, abandoning injustice and harmful acts, behaving well with one's wife, removing the faults, teaching humility to the sons, engaging them in various essential works, abandoning inauspicious things, consuming auspicious things, following the duties of the family in the proper manner and protecting one's family with one's own efforts, etc., all these are called auspicious conduct.
