युधिष्ठिर ने पूछा - हे प्रभु! आप तो सभी धर्मों के ज्ञाता और समस्त शास्त्रों के विद्वान हैं; अतः यह बताइए कि पिता, माता, पुत्र, गुरु, सगे-संबंधी और मित्र आदि में से मनुष्य का सच्चा सहायक कौन है? जब सभी लोग अपने मृत शरीर को काठ के ढेले के समान छोड़कर चले जाते हैं, तब इस जीव के साथ परलोक कौन जाता है?॥
Yudhishthir asked – Lord! You are the knower of all religions and a scholar of all the scriptures; So tell me, who among father, mother, son, teacher, relatives and friends etc. is the true helper of man? When everyone leaves their dead body like a lump of wood and goes away, then who goes to the next world with this living being?॥
