त्यजन्ति दारान् पुत्रांश्च मनुष्या: परिपूजिता:।
संग्रहश्चैव भूतानां दानं च मधुरा च वाक्॥ ५३॥
अप्रमादश्च शौचं च राज्ञो भूतिकरं महत्।
एतेभ्यश्चैव मान्धात: सततं मा प्रमादिथा:॥ ५४॥
अनुवाद
यदि लोगों का आदर किया जाए, तो वे आदर देने वाले के हित के लिए अपनी सन्तान और स्त्री तक को त्याग देते हैं। सभी प्राणियों को अपने पक्ष में रखना, दान देना, मधुर वचन बोलना, प्रमाद का त्याग करना तथा बाहर-भीतर से पवित्र रहना - ये राजा की समृद्धि बढ़ाने के महान साधन हैं। मान्धाता! तुम्हें इन सब बातों में कभी प्रमाद नहीं करना चाहिए।
If people are respected, they even leave their children and wives for the benefit of the person who gives them respect. Keeping all living beings on your side, giving charity, speaking sweet words, giving up negligence and being pure from outside and inside - these are great means of increasing the prosperity of the king. Mandhaata! You should never be negligent about all these things.
