तं शक्त्या वर्धमानश्च सर्वत: परिबृंहयेत्।
नित्यं क्षताद् वारयति यो धर्मेष्वपि कर्मसु॥ १८॥
क्षताद् भीतं विजानीयादुत्तमं मित्रलक्षणम्।
ये तस्य क्षतमिच्छन्ति ते तस्य रिपव: स्मृता:॥ १९॥ |

| और जब तुम्हारा अपना धन बढ़ जाए, तो अपनी क्षमतानुसार उसे सब ओर से समृद्ध बनाना चाहिए। जो व्यक्ति धार्मिक कार्यों में भी राजा को अनिष्ट से बचाने का प्रयत्न करता है और अपने अनिष्ट से डरता है, उसका यही स्वभाव अच्छे मित्र का लक्षण समझना चाहिए। जो लोग राजा का अनिष्ट और नाश चाहते हैं, वे उसके शत्रु माने जाते हैं। |
