यं मानसं वै प्रवदन्ति विप्रा:
पितामहस्योत्तमबुद्धियुक्तम्।
वसिष्ठमग्रॺं च तपोनिधानं
यस्यातिसूर्यं व्यतिरिच्यते भा:॥ ४९॥
तस्यान्वये चापि ततो महर्षि:
पराशरो नाम महाप्रभाव:।
पिता स ते वेदनिधिर्वरिष्ठो
महातपा वै तपसो निवास:॥ ५०॥
अनुवाद
जिन्हें ब्राह्मण ब्रह्माजी का मानसपुत्र कहते हैं, जो उत्तम बुद्धि, तपस्य के धनी और श्रेष्ठ वसिष्ठ मुनि के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हैं तथा जिनकी प्रभा सूर्यदेव से भी अधिक है, वे ब्रह्मर्षि वसिष्ठ के वंश में पराशर नामक महान प्रभावशाली महर्षि होंगे। वे वैदिक ज्ञान के भण्डार, ऋषियों में श्रेष्ठ, महान तपस्वियों और तपस्वियों के निवासस्थान होंगे। वही पराशर मुनि उस समय तुम्हारे पिता होंगे। 49-50॥
