अजेन यष्टव्यमिति प्राहुर्देवा द्विजोत्तमान्।
स च च्छागोऽप्यजो ज्ञेयो नान्य: पशुरिति स्थिति:॥ ३॥
अनुवाद
यज्ञ अज की सहायता से ही सम्पन्न होना चाहिए - यही नियम है।' ऐसा कहकर देवताओं ने वहाँ उपस्थित समस्त महर्षियों से कहा, 'यहाँ अज का तात्पर्य बकरे से ही समझना चाहिए, अन्य किसी पशु से नहीं, यही निश्चय है।'
'The sacrifice should be performed with the help of Aja - this is the rule.' Having said this, the gods told all the great sages present there, 'Here Aja should be understood to mean goat, not any other animal, this is the certainty.'
