षोडशी तु कला सूक्ष्मा स सोम उपधार्यताम्।
न तूपयुज्यते देवैर्देवानुपयुनक्ति सा॥ ६॥

अमा नामक सोलहवाँ सूक्ष्म चरण सोम है, अर्थात् जीव की प्रकृति है, यह तुम निश्चयपूर्वक जान लो। देवता, अर्थात् अंतःकरण और इन्द्रियाँ, जिन्हें पंद्रह चरण कहते हैं, उस सोलहवें चरण का उपयोग नहीं कर सकते; परन्तु वह सोलहवाँ चरण, अर्थात् प्रकृति जो उन सबका कारण है, उनका उपयोग करती है। 6.
The sixteenth subtle phase called Ama is Som, that is, the nature of the living being, you must know this for sure. The deities, that is, the inner organs and the senses, which are called the fifteen phases, cannot use that sixteenth phase; but that sixteenth phase, that is, the nature which is the cause of all of them, uses them. 6.
